A New Year Wish
The cheering from excited young children reverberated through the Oncology Daycare Ward, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Ipoh during Pantai Hospital Ipoh’s New Year Wish party. Fifty children from the Oncology and Thalassaemia Daycare Unit were treated to a whole morning of fun and games by staff of Pantai Hospital Ipoh.
Present also at the event were PHI Chief Operating Officer En Anwar Anis, Dr Chua Bee Sim Head of the Paediatric Oncology Unit, Dr Akbar Ali Consultant Paediatrician and President of Cancerlink Society.
The event kicked off with an icebreaker followed by the appearance of Amy The Clown who simply mesmerized the children with exciting balloon sculptures of Angry Birds, Smurfs, etc. The all time fun games like Mystery parcel, musical chairs, jigsaw puzzle mix simply warmed up the children with squeals of laughter. The merry entrance of Santa Claus and his spontaneous jokes and fun with the children liven up the atmosphere. Highlights were the presentation of gift and lucky draw hampers given generously by the doctors, staff and benevolent partners of PHI.
In the closing Dr Mohd Fahmi who spoke on behalf of COO thanked the doctors, nursing staff, parents and relatives for giving PHI the wonderful opportunity to share the joys of the season. Dr Fahmi also commended parents for the bountiful love, perseverance and care that they give their children who have undergone pain and difficult times. Dr Chua said “A New Year Wish is a wonderful event that ensures these children experience the joy of year-end festivities. It is heart-warming to see joy written on faces of children, reflecting the generosity of PHI and its commitment to the community”.
