Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh visits Happiness Centre and children from Paediatrics Ward

AYER KEROH, 7 February 2012 – Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh (PHAK) kick-started the year of the Dragon on a charitable note when a team of staff made a trip to the Happiness Centre for the Mentally Disabled Children in Klebang Kecil to convey their warm wishes for the new year and to send in contributions from the hospital.

PHAK staff with founders of Happiness Centre, Roy and Nancy Collar alongside some residents of the centre.

PHAK has previously visited the Happiness Centre on several occasions, including more recently, during Children’s Day to deliver donations in aid of the children who desperately need more necessity items for their daily use and to do their part in helping to keep the centre running. This time around, the PHAK team brought in cartons of foodstuff, medical supplies and toiletries to the centre.

Roy, who expressed his appreciation towards the kindness received by the hospital staff said, “The children and the centre are blessed to receive continuous support and help from Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh. As our centre runs entirely on the beneficence of the public, sometimes the going gets tough when we run low on resources. The generosity and grace that we’ve seen from the people who have visited us is truly wonderful and very much appreciated.“

Five Dragon babies were delivered in PHAK during the first two days of Chinese New Year.

PHAK ushered in the Dragon year with much cause for celebration, having received five bundles of joy on the first two days of the Chinese New Year. Parents of the newborn babies were each given exclusive baby gift packs from PHAK. The young patients at the hospital’s Paediatrics Ward were also given a taste of the festive mood when the hospital staff paid them a visit and gifted them with mandarin oranges and ang pow packets. Family members and relatives of patients across the ward joined in the mini celebration and showed great enthusiasm. Parents noted that they were glad the hospital went the extra mile to lift up the spirits and keep the children in the joyous mood.

Gan Kong Hoe, PHAK’s Chief Executive Officer, conveyed his hopes that the children will feel loved and cared for with PHAK’s effort to bring in the festive cheers to children at the Happiness Centre and the hospital’s Paediatrics Ward. “It has always been our practice to reach out and give back to the community we serve in. I applaud my caring team of staff who has so thoughtfully come together to respond to our holler for donations towards the less fortunate. We hope our efforts will be able to provide some additional mileage to those on the receiving end as we continue our crusade towards a charitable cause.”
