The Gleneagles Penang came into existence as the Penang Medical Centre way back on July 1, 1973.  It started off as the first for profit private hospital in Malaysia.  Since then it has flourished and firmly established itself as a standard-bearer amongst the private healthcare providers in Malaysia.  The hospital is strategically located in the heart of Penang Island with a 227-bedded facility.

New developments are under way on the plot adjacent to the hospital which will yield a nineteen-storey modern building comprising wards, critical service areas, improved outpatient facilities and multi-level covered car parking lots.  Overall, with the additional spaces available, the existing hospital services will be expanded and upgraded.
