Dr. Adilah Ahmat

Dr Adilah graduated from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). After completing her housemanship at Hospital Seremban, Dr Adilah served at many places including Hospital Taiping, the MCHC in Shah Alam, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital TAR Klang; and HUKM. At HUKM, she pursued her Post-Graduate O&G training and successfully obtained herin O&G in 2002.

She later joined the Lembaga Penduduk & Pembangunan Keluarga Negara or LPPKN (the pioneer IVF centre in Malaysia) under the Ministry of Women and Family Development where she gained vast experience in treating many infertile couples.LPPKN, Dr Adilah was also appointed as the Director of the Human Reproductive Medicine Department and was responsible in the rejuvenationthe IVF Unit. As the Director, she was also responsible with the handling ofaffairs; this contributed a lot of experience in her management credentials and public relations. It was at that moment thatdepartment had gained and improved much from visits and meetings with two world-known infertility centres; Dr Peter Brinsden and his team at the Bourn Hall Clinic in Cambridge, United Kingdom where the first world IVF baby Louis Brown was conceived and Dr (IL) Robert Fischer and his team at the Fertility Center Hamburg (FCH), Germany that does 2500 IVF cycles a year with an average of 800 IVF cycles per doctor and known for achieving and maintaining its high success rate and internationally quality.

She and her team later underwent sessions of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technique) and Quality Management training at FCH Germany.Fischer, a co-founder of the European Society of Human Reproduction (ESHRE),well recognized for his contribution and numerous medical publications, particularly in quality management. Upon returningLPPKN, DR Adilah had led the Human Reproductive Medicine Department to obtain ISO 9001 : 2000 qualification within the shortest given time in 6 months of initiation, the first in the Ministerial Department.

She later joined Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur and blended well with the team having produced immediate clinical pregnancies in both her first IVF and ICSI-TESE couples treated here and has since continued to fulfil the hopes of many other subfertile couples.

In September 2009, she was appointed as the Clinical Director of the unit.

Dr Adilah aspires that PHKL will continue toits fertility services to a higher level. The rebranding of the unit is expected to widen the scope of the services in aiming fortransfer of technology to achieve 60-80% clinical pregnancy rate, at the same time maintaining its quality and reducing the multiple pregnancy rate to below 15%. PHKL FERTILITY & IVF UNIT is the only fertility centre of all Pantai Hospitals in Malaysia to offer complete IVF facility.

Dr Adilah is also actively involved in creating public health awareness through numerous appearances in television and is an avid columnist in the local newspapers and magazines.She is a member of TAFF (Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation) committee and ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction). She also enjoys blogging, writing books and retro music.
