Comes from a family of healthcare professionals, Michael grew up and trained
in Australia. Michael began his career as an Account Executive for Sarawak
Securities Sdn Bhd, the stockbroking arm of the Sarawak conglomerate, Cahya
Mata Sarawak Bhd and promoted to Assistant Finance Manager four years later. 
In that time he covered treasury and cashflow management, external reporting,
management reporting, systems and regulatory compliance. In recognition of
his work, he was transferred to another subsidiary that manufactures
pre-fabricated light weight insulated panels for houses, where he gained
valuable experiences in the manufacturing environment.

In 2004, Michael answered a call to cross the South China Sea to take up the
position of Finance Manager at Penang Adventist Hospital.  He rose rapidly
to become the Acting Chief Financial Officer in 2005, and Chief Financial
Officer in 2006.  He had held that post until 2012 (with a brief stint as the
Acting Chief Operating Officer) when he assumed the current position of
Chief Executive Officer of Pantai Hospital Ampang.  In the seven and a half
years at Penang Adventist Hospital, Michael was in involved in several
notable achievement of the hospital.  Among them were the first JCI accredited
hospital in Malaysia, created an Information Management team harnessing
the technology of Business Intelligence to manage by evidenced based,
refurbished an eighty-eight years old institution to modern standards while
maintaining her heritage, led the charge to digitize hospital processes, and
merger & acquisition activities.

Within the industry, Michael has been an invited speaker at Association of Private Hospital Malaysia annual conference, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Asia Pacific annual conference in Melbourne, Australia, BAKTI, and SAS forums.  He has also been a past lecturer in ACCA courses, Degree and Master programs in local tertiary institution.

Michael, Certified Practising Accountant (CPA Australia) since 1998, holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland and a Bachelor of Business degree (majoring in Accounting and Computing) from Avondale College in Cooranbong, New South Wales, Australia.  He is also a member of Malaysia Institute of Accountant.

In addition, Michael is an Enterprise Risk Manager certified by Asian Risk Management Institute in association with National University Singapore who awarded him a Professional Diploma in Enterprise Risk Planning and Management.

Michael volunteered as the Northern Region Area Coordinator from 2009-2012 for CPA Australia.
