Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh’s Accident & Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day and well-equipped to handle any injury in first aid treatment, or medical emergency, round-the-clock every day. At the A&E, the dedicated team of doctors and nurses are specially trained for emergency situations. They will evaluate the situation immediately using the triage method. The most severe cases with life-threatening conditions will be our topmost priority, while the rest may need a 30-minute wait for yellow cases and 90-minutes wait for green cases, depending on the number of patients at the A&E.

In addition to having a team of emergency specialists assessing and managing your case, a multidisciplinary team of specialists and surgeons are also on call to attend to complex medical conditions.

The diagnostic process at the Emergency may involve various departments (modalities) such as the clinical laboratory services and imaging services. Once the patient has received the urgent medical intervention, he or she is transferred to a ward for further observation and treatment.

To list down eg. , mortuary, diagnostic imaging (CT scan, X-ray), blood tests, cath lab, operaion theater cathlab etc)

Our A&E Department provides 24-hour ambulance services and medical transportation. PHAK owns 2 ambulances and we are assisted by trusteble outsource ambulance by MOU. We cover all state for cold cases transferring with the help of outsource. For housecall we cover 15 KM from hospital. Beyond than this radius, we will advise/ encourage to contact KKM ambulance in view of emergency but will provide flow once patient stablised, on transfering to PHAK. (hospital to elaborate)

Our ambulance service includes transporting stable / unstable patients from home to hospital, hospital to other facilities/ home, involved in charitable events / standby in state level events upon invitation, supporting government in view of disaster management and international transfer depending on destination.

Triage & Waiting Time

The triage system is used to sort patients into categories so those with urgent medical needs get help first. The assessment is based on how sick a patient is upon arrival at the emergency.

The medical specialists are on call for 24 hours. If you have a preferred specialist at our hospital, you can inform the admissions counter that you wish to follow up with him or her.

We accept various modes of payment including cash and major credit cards at our hospitals. For the convenience of international patients, we also accept major foreign currencies.

If you’re paying via insurance, whether it’s a personal accident plan, comprehensive hospitalisation plan or travel insurance that covers your expenses at the A&E, here are the documents needed:

	A photocopy of your NRIC/passport
	Original hospital receipts and invoices
	Itemised hospital bills/detailed bills
	Any diagnostic reports (blood test, coronary angiogram, X-ray, etc.)
	For overseas treatment: passport copies, boarding pass, flight ticket details, original itemised bill (and English translation, if necessary)

Our Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, you can walk-in anytime during the day on in the wee hours of the night.

2	What can I expect when arriving at the Emergency department?

You will be required to fill in the e-health declaration form prior to entering the hospital.
Followed by registration.
You will then be attended to by our triage nurse at Triage Room. You will be stratified based on your condition to the dedicated zone which is Green, Yellow or Red.
Depending on the severity of your medical condition, you will be attended by our Emergency Department doctor.

Immediately (Red –Life Threatening),

You will be stabilized on the spot if your condition is critical.

within 15 minutes (Yellow – Semi Critical),
within 30min (Green – Cold Case).

The clock starts after your assessment at Triage Room.

If necessary, examinations such as laboratory test will carried test depending on your condition.

3	Who will I see in the Emergency department?

You will be attended by our Emergency Medical Officers who will notify our medical specialists if you are reqiured to be seen by them.

4	How long do I need to wait to see a doctor?

The average wait time at our A&E is about 30 minutes. This is approximate and for informational purposes only.

Assessment of a patient's condition will be assessed at the triage stage. Our triage system is based on Malaysian Triage Category, patients will be categorised according to treatment priority to ensure immediate medical attention is given.

It is our priority to provide care to the most critical cases first.

5	Can I bring my child to be treated at the Accident & Emergency department?

Yes our Emergency Department provides treatment for Children and our Consultant Paediatricians are on call 24 hours.

6	When does doctor decide to admit a patient?

Depending on the patient's condition and needs.

7	What are the admission process?

Our Patient Services personel will assist you with the admission process and our Specialist on call will be notified.
