A lump has grown on the palatoglossal arch, smaller than a soybean
There is a lump or swelling (undetermined) on the right palatoglossal arch. It is smooth, pink, and painless. What could be causing this? I also have follicles on the posterior pharyngeal wall; could this be related? Or is it related to eating spicy food? I can feel it when I eat spicy food these past few days, but I don't usually feel it.

Answer:
Based on your description—a small, smooth, pink, and painless lump located on the palatoglossal arch—there are several possible benign causes. These may include mild inflammation of lymphoid tissue, mucosal irritation, or a reactive swelling related to recent throat irritation or infection. The follicles you mentioned on the posterior pharyngeal wall are commonly associated with chronic throat irritation, post-nasal drip, or minor upper respiratory inflammation, and they may be related.
Spicy food does not usually cause growths, but it can irritate sensitive or inflamed throat tissue, which may explain why you notice discomfort when consuming spicy foods. If the lump is otherwise painless and not rapidly increasing in size, it is often not an urgent condition. However, persistence or changes should be assessed.
We recommend that you consult our specialist for a direct examination. This will allow for an accurate assessment and, if necessary, further investigation to determine the exact cause. Please seek medical attention sooner if you experience symptoms such as pain, difficulty swallowing, bleeding, fever, or if the swelling increases in size.
