My daughter age 10 test by Influenza A positive with high fever 39.4.should I bring her to emergency department ? Does she need to admit for further treatment?
If your 10-year-old has tested positive for Influenza A and is currently having a high fever of 39.4°C, we recommend the following:
Monitor her symptoms closely. Ensure she is drinking enough fluids, getting sufficient rest, and taking fever medication such as paracetamol (as prescribed or according to age/weight dosage).
Seek immediate medical attention (Emergency Department) if she develops any of the following warning signs:
• Persistent or worsening high fever despite medication
• Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing
• Chest pain
• Persistent vomiting or inability to keep fluids down
• Drowsiness, irritability, or confusion
• Signs of dehydration (dry lips, reduced urination, lethargy)
Hospital admission is not always required for Influenza A, especially if symptoms are mild to moderate and your child is otherwise healthy. However, admission may be considered if she is unable to maintain hydration, has breathing difficulties, or if her condition worsens despite home care.
