I am seeking your advice and assistance regarding my 7-year-old child, who has been diagnosed with ADHD by a psychiatrist at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur. Currently, my child is on Ritalin 10mg as prescribed. Both my wife and I are quite anxious about this waiting period, especially considering our child's current condition. He is struggling to cope in a mainstream school environment and has been displaying frequent tantrums and aggressive behaviour towards his classmates and teachers. Based on our observation, he can only manage to focus and behave appropriately from around 7am to 10am — most likely when the medication effect is still active. After that, the challenging behaviour usually resurfaces. We really want the best for our child and are committed to supporting him in getting the most suitable treatment and care. At the same time, we must admit that this situation has taken a heavy toll on our own mental and emotional well-being.
