Pilonidal Sinus
I have a 2nd time recurring pilonidal sinus and it has resolved with antibiotics. I’m hoping for a surgery that is minimally invasive since I would prefer to not have huge scars on my back like karydakis surgery. Do I have different options? Thank you.

Answer:
Hi, I understand, your concern and its hard to manage this disease. But, the best, I recommend you discuss with a colorectal surgeon about undergoing a minimally invasive procedure called a pit picking or minimally invasive pilonidal sinus treatment (MIPS). This procedure involves removing the diseased tissue with a small incision or punch biopsy tool and typically results in less scarring compared to traditional surgery.Additionally, keeping the area clean and dry, maintaining good personal hygiene, and avoiding prolonged sitting can help prevent recurrence after the surgery. It's important to follow your doctor recommendations for post-operative care to promote healing and reduce the risk of recur again.I also suggest discussing the potential benefits and risks of surgery, as well as any other treatment options that may be suitable for your specific case. Your doctor will be able to provide you with personalized advice based on your medical history and individual needs.
I wish you well and healthy.
