Report abnormal reading rate
My dad 69years old, perform medical check up with hs CRP result 56, but without any systoms.. Recently with heart rate reading sometimes 88,63,77 82,45,96,74,67.. Is this very serious... Please advise...

Answer:
A high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) level of 56 indicates inflammation in the body which could be associated with an increased risk of heart disease.
Patients with elevated hs CRP are advised to go for more thorough cardiovascular risk assessment including blood test, and exercise stress test.
Another test which is accurate in ruling out coronary artery disease is Coronary CT scan and calcium score especially if there is positive family history or any underlying risks like high blood pressure, diabetes , high cholesterol or smoker.

The fluctuating heart rate readings you mentioned may or may not be related to the hs-CRP level. A resting heart rate typically falls between 60 to 100 beats per minute, so the range you provided is within the normal range. However, seeing dips like 45 and peaks at 96 may be something worth monitoring.

It's important for your dad to follow up with his doctor to discuss these results and any potential concerns, as well as determine the appropriate next steps. The doctor may recommend further tests or lifestyle changes to help manage the inflammation and heart health.

In the meantime, encouraging your dad to maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, manage stress, and avoid smoking can help support overall heart health.
